Applying for an associate professorship (docent)

In order to receive the title Associate Professor (in Swedish: docent), you must:

  • have the requisite qualifications,
  • have completed the preparatory course for prospective associate professors. Note that the course consists of two sub-courses.

You may submit your application before you have finished the course in order to get the process started (it will usually take at least six months to consider your application).

Applications for associate professorship are processed by the Associate Professorship Appointments Board. The decision on appointment is taken by the Dean of the Faculty.

Note that Associate Professor is solely a title and does not imply any tenured employment.
