Since January, the project group for Stage 2 has been working intensively with White Arkitekter to evaluate the premises programme. During the spring, the focus has been on the three priority areas mentioned in the programme. The work has mainly involved assessing these areas in terms of cost, feasibility and the ability to achieve set impact targets for the establishment of Science Village.

The priority areas, except for the establishment of scenario five in Science Village, are theoretical, and the intention is to use them as a basis for comparing different cost alternatives. The priority areas and their scope are discussed in the Local Programme and in a recent post on the Science Village blog (link below).

The project team plans to continue the evaluation work in the autumn and to continue discussions with the management teams at the Faculty of Engineering (LTH) and the Faculty of Science, as well as with the business.

Room function programme

Another important part of the work is to formulate a room function programme, which is fundamental to the procurement of a building project. The room function programme is a detailed description of the requirements for each room. It shows how the rooms will be used and function, as well as any requirements for equipment and furnishings, such as whether they are difficult to fit, can be moved or need to be replaced. The project team has started work on the programme and it will run in parallel with the evaluation work.

Work on the planning programme

Lund Municipality's work on the planning programme is taking place in parallel with the university's own work. The planning programme assesses the suitability of various proposed buildings and projects, and the development of the area in a larger context is studied. The project group has contributed with input and feedback to ensure that the planning programme corresponds to the university's visions and needs. The programme will be submitted to the Planning Board in June, hopefully with the University's input.

Student meeting in Science Village

In addition to the work of evaluating the premises programme, the project group arranged a meeting for the student unions, Lunds Naturvetarkår (LUNA) and Teknologkåren (TLTH), in the area. Before the review of the university's work for the establishment of the Science Village, the students were given an exciting tour of the area and a visit to The Loop to see the Science Village Hall. Afterwards, the project manager and professor Knut Deppert gave an update on the establishment work and the plan programme work.

More information about this spring's project work is published on the Science Village blog.
